Class Description

As a kid I loved robot movies, tv shows, toys…the weirder they looked the better. In this workshop we are going to create some of the most outrageous mechanized monsters imaginable using everyday items. When you’re done, they may not be able to conquer the universe, but they will look really really cool. 

Supply List

·       A bunch of junk. Strange devices..such as kitchen doodads, broken electrical thingies, action figures (especially ones that are mechanized looking buth they don’t have to be.

·       Teeny tiny doodads.  Small gears and electronic looking items.

·       Something for a base…could be a block of wood or a plaque.

·       Aves Clay 1 lb or more

·      Rebar Tie Wire - you get this in the hardware store…it’s basically a thick gauge wire.

·       Acrylic paint brushes 

o    detail or liner brushes 

o    flat bristle brushes in a few different sizes 

·       Paints – I will demo with Kroma brand.  If you choose to use Kroma you can order from them and get a 10% discount code once you enroll.

o    Transparent Red Oxide

o    Nickel Azo Yellow

o    Titanium White

o    Carbon Black

o    Pthalo Blue

o    Quin Red

o    Paynes Grey

  • Iridescent Gold

  • Iridescent Silver

o  Optional Yummy Colors: Cadmium Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Chartrues, Cobalt Teal, Napthol Red.

·       Glues: 

  • E6000 or Household Goop

  • Gorilla Glue

·       Tools

  • Small pliers come in handy

  • Sand paper

  • Dremel (with metal cut of wheel and sanding drum)

  • Drill

  • Heat gun

Questions You Might Have:

  • How long can I access the videos? Forever and ever. You will have to ability to download the videos right to your computer.

  • How does it differ from live class? Online classes allow for a bit more in-depth explanations of techniques etc.

  • Will there be video? A: Yes. I have about 150 of minutes of protected video that only students will be able to access.

  • Is the class segmented or do I get everything at once? I have designed the class so you will have access the information at once and can play with it as you like, at your own speed. New weekly videos will pop up with additional project, tidbits and tips.

  • What kind of site is being used to host this class? I'm using a protected website.

  • How will I access the website? When class begins I will send out passwords to all the students.

  • What else will be on the site? Along with the workshop videos I will also do weekly video addressing these questions.

  • Is this for Beginners or Advanced students? It's for everyone. I've made it so it is information that can be used by all levels.

  • Will it be entertaining? Geez, I hope so. I will try and make it very un-dry and fun.

  • What will happen after I sign up? I will send out the secret codes, etc.
