Listen up you salty sea-dogs, here’s the scuttlebutt: Its time to nail your colors to the mast and clean the crustaceans from your ears. We are heading out to the sea of found objects and assemblage to create some nautically themed. I love shipwrecks, not being on one but rather the aesthetic of these dark ever-changing structures. After years beneath the waves, these relics eventually evolve into something organic and strange. We will explore a variety of techniques such as creating barnacles and coral, to exploring a variety of rust and verdigris patinas. These oceanic altars can be homages to anything from sailors to sea gods, mermaids to monsters from the deep. Get ready to batten down the hatches because we’re starting to take on water.
