FOUND OBJECT TAROT - 2-Day Workshop - May 5-6

265.00

Please join me for this one day workshop May 5th-6th, 2018 located at Colours Art & Framing in Port Coquitlam, BC

In Michael’s workshop, your task will be to create a few puppet characters based on a cards from the Major or Minor Arcana of the Tarot.  Using found objects as your base, you will modify them into a metaphorically rich persona.  Next you will create a little stage or stand for your creations.  This could be one stage to house all your creations or a smaller individual stage for each card you choose to interpret.  Since it is rather unlikely you’ll be able to complete all 78 cards during class, this means you’ll have a choice to make: Which cards to personify?

  • A base for your character(s). Could be a small plaque or a piece of wood...feel free to think out of the box.
  • A variety of found objects. Items like watch parts, gears, typewriter parts...just about anything, really. Look for things that are interesting shapes or designs. Tiny doll parts.
  • Fabric or burlap for clothing
  • Paint Brushes (a couple small detail brushes, and some cheap brushes (1/2 inch to 1 inch in size)
  • E 6000 Adhesive
  • Aves Clay 1 lbs Here's a source in Canada:  http://www.sculpturesupply.com/list.php?sf=subcategory&vl=Apoxie+Clay&cat=modeling+materials  (In a pinch you could use FreeForm Sculpt from FibreTek located in Burnaby)
  • Eyes or things that might replicate eyes. Tiny doll eyes would be great.
  • Paints: Acrylic (Golden brand -preferably fluids – the tubes and jars will work too, the colors are the key) - Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold, Titanium White, Carbon Black, Van Dyke Brown, Pthalo Blue, Quinacridone Crimson, Pthalo Green, Dioxazine Purple
