Supply List

  • Dolls, busts, figurines -

    • We will be using these for many of the character bases and transforming them into Oz peeps

  • Variety of other found objects that might be interesting. Items like pepper grinders, costume jewelry, watch parts, gears, typewriter parts…. just about anything, really.

    • These bits will be used for adorning the base as well as the character

  • A base or a frame to build for your characters/scenes. These could be just about anything. A piece of wood or a frame or even a hubcap.

  • Aves Apoxie Clay 1lb or more (3lbs would be ideal). What you can’t find we will fabricate with this stuff. IF YOU DECIDE TO ORDER DIRECTLY FROM AVES: Use the Discount code: “DEMENG” to receive a 10% discount.

  • Paint Brushes (a couple small detail brushes, and some cheap bristle brushes (1/2 inch to 1 inch in size)

  • Wire a couple of different gauges (preferably rebar tie wire - found in the masonry dept of hardware store)

  • Basic Tools…pliers, scissors,

  • Acrylic Paint – any fine art brand will work but Kroma Acrylic paint offers a 10% discount to students. DISCOUNT CODE: MYPRETTY

    • Transparent Red Oxide

    • Black (Carbon)

    • Titanium White

    • Pthalo Blue

    • Pthalo Green

    • Quinacridone Red

    • Dap Kwik Seal for kitchen and bath -White. Should say paintable or water base acrylic or latex.

  • Cheesecloth, canvas, burlap, pantyhose and bits of fabric.

    • Dremel with cut off wheel and engraving bit

  • Ideas Character Specific Found Objects

    • Tin man- bits of metal or mechanical looking items. Bear in mind we can paint things to look like they are made of metal.

    • Scarecrow - Straw, bits of wood, burlap, pantyhose (yes, pantyhose…I’m showing a cool technique using it),

    • Lion - Toy lion head. I will also show how to make one from a human head too.

    • Flying monkey - human figurine, toy skull (I will show how to transforms this into a monkey face). Angel wings (I will also show how to make wings for balsa wood)
